For the last several years, libraries that have ended overdue fines found it led to an increase in patrons, an increase in returns, and an increase in positive patron experiences. Ending overdue fines is good for the community and good for the library, and we’re so proud to make this a part of our Strategic Plan.
But ending overdue fines does not mean ending all fees. For example, if materials are kept too long beyond their final due date a lost item replacement cost is still charged. As always, lost charges are 100% canceled upon return of the item in good condition.
